Torn World Muse Fusion - now open!

Comment here with prompts for our writing, arting, and creating team!

We're standing by to write furiously to your prompts, from 8 AM AST (now!) to last-man-standing tonight.

Let us know what you want to see! Do you want to know what a character's opinion on a subject is? Want to see a skycat in action? Maybe you'd like to hear a dialogue between two characters on a particular topic! A prompt can be specific, or general. One-word prompts are welcome, as are picture prompts, or links. Cross-over fanfiction can be requested, though not all participants may be interested in creating it. The only major restriction for prompts is that they should be appropriate to Torn World and available to all participants (no specifying that a particular participant write your prompt).

To see information about the signed-up participants and their individual requests/requirements, see this post: http://community.livejournal.com/torn_world/12218.html

Ready? Set? Create!

ETA: We're winding down, now - it's about 10:30 AST (2:30 AM EST). Thanks for playing along, everyone! :)

Getting Started - some prompts

One of the things I'd love to see is an astronomically-accurate picture of how the moons look.

I'd also love to see a "Patron" icon for contributors.

General prompt for artists: There are some adoptable characters who don't have portraits.

Hmm...for writers...right now we seem to have more stories set in the North. But I don't have a particular southern prompt in mind right now.
Oh oh! I have a few one word or sentence ones that I have been thinking of the past few days :D

Counting Rice
The Brightest Star in the Sky
Snowy Loses a Tail
Not all Bubbles are Equal
My Neighbour has a better House
Gambling against the Soul

With dialogue I would *love* to see Draiden and Emerona, specifically Draiden trying to use his charms *giggles*
And I would also like to see a sneak into what Bai would have done with Amarion (willing to donate $10 for that one, Ellen :D)

Hah! I have to do something with the snowy losing it's tail!
Just one to start with:

Giving a skycat a bath!
Do you have a link to post for the kitchen pic I did or is it still in review.

(yes I know I should have been gone by now, bed blocked, am waiting by phone for call to say I can go in)

"A Day In The Life" - Just what it sounds like. I'd like to follow a character through their day, see how this world works for an individual. And yes, I mean this one for writers and artists!

A couple more art prompts:

"Odds and Ends"

Re: Prompt

From this, I got "A Day of Silence," a typical day in Marai's life, also featuring Lenerai. fiction, 1290 words. Sponsor it for $10!

moon stories

Having recently read description of three moons, I imagine that when large moon is at zenith the two small moons (which resemble bright stars/planets) are just above the horizon, one of them just rising and the other one just setting.

Would anyone like to write a moon inspired folk tale involving a mother with two jealous daughters, one of which always leaves the room (sky) when the other walks in.

Re: moon stories

I'd love to see moon stories!

When the large moon is at its zenith, the smaller moons would be about 30 degrees above their respective horizons. Y(our fist covers about 10 degrees of sky if you hold it up at arm's length.) They would be in the sky together for about four hours, from the time the lagging moon rises to the setting of the leading moon.
From Valdary!

This is a southern kitchen. Who lives here? Does it spark any other ides from you? (thanks for linking pic Ellen)

A prompt- no wait, two prompts!

I want to see more on the realationships of snowies and their people.

Also, hunting in the north.

Re: A prompt- no wait, two prompts!

I combined the prompt "Snowy Loses a Tail" with your desire to see more about the northerner's relationship with their snowies and got "Only a Yiirk Bite." Fiction, 1076 words. Sponsor it for $10!
I read once in the forums about gender reassignment as a legislated/regulated act in the Southern culture. The fuller context was that in order to gain a license to raise children, a same gendered couple would probably have to have one member apply for and receive status as the opposite gender.

The idea of gender roles being stronger than physical gender is a fascinating historical topic for me and plays heavily in one of my own story worlds.* Therefore, my prompt is something (poetry, prose, artwork) that tells the story of a southern family who undergoes, thinks about undergoing, or has undergone this process. It could be from the point of view of the person undergoing the legal gender change, or their partner, or even the child that eventually and after much red tape would result from such an undertaking.

* i.e. This is the Torn World story I'd write myself if it weren't for the 4 papers due in February alone that are breathing down my neck.

Oh, what a cool idea. I didn't see that bit. Has it become canon? Is it a local rule or an empire-wide rule?

Prompts from Jeffrey

Ancestors meet descendants.
Interzone traveling merchant/traders.
Medical issues: Old diseases, new diseases, folk cures, & new cures.

Re: Prompts from Jeffrey

I took folk cures and traveling merchant (well... Draiden's a traveling circus manager, but he has some side businesses!) and combined them with the call to witness a conversation between Draiden and Emeroma. Oranaan plays a role as well. Fiction, 822 words, $7.50 to sponsor.

Here are my prompts, useful for writing or art:

snow unicorn foal
time-crystal appliance
two or more Northerners dancing
Southerners playing hexball

I am also available for writing poetry, or perhaps flash fiction if I get inspired in that direction. I plan to make one piece visible to the public. Others will be for supporters only, unless they get sponsored. I've posted my prices here:

Re: Prompts

I'ma gonna nab the Southerners playing hexball one.
A story to go with Travels:

A story (possibly Dorje's story with the serial numbers scrubbed off?) with the Northner 'baudy' character icons.

More animal tales from the Riilass swamps (not necessarily Skycat stories).

A "Rejoining" story, be it "as told now" or "what actually happened".

Some incident demonstrating why Jakal so dismays the rest of Araida's friends.

Ivara at work as an Elder.

I will second Draiden meets Emeroma, though I fear the results.

>I will second Draiden meets Emeroma, though I fear the results.

Its a kind of fear that makes people continue to watch car wrecks isn't it. Just know it is going to be messy, but you can't stop looking.

Foods. I want to see a story or more about foods and how they inspire people.
I have done Lenarai and Kether (with an apperance of Kativa) talking about Lenarai's latest experiement with food. "It's Grey!" 910 words.

Draft is here: http://www.tornworld.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=331

I currently have no intentions of making it canon, unless someone really wants it canon then they can sponsor it for $10 (note me onthe forum).

I will take "Poetry about Blinkbirds."

Some more random ideas.

The Cost of Tears
Why the Ice Melted
Sunny Days
Empire Laziness
The Day the Butterfly Died

Re: More...

I'll take "The Cost of Tears."

I like your title prompts.

I'm going to step away from the computer. I might be back later, or not. Here are a few more prompts in case anyone is still going:

"The Colors of Time"
"Stillborn Dreams"
"Ijoli and the Giant Mouse"
"The Fraying Bridge"
"Shards of Yesterday"

hunting a snowshoe boar
finding a lost sand cat kitten
a scientist secretly visiting a music jam bar
children playing in a Southern fountain
children playing in a Northern firepit when they are supposed to be cleaning it out
